1953 . Late Sri.V.M. Alexander Vellapally (Founder President)

1953 to 1975 – After his studies and subsequent training with M/s. Gregson Battly & King, Bombay, in 1954 he joined the flagship firm of VELLAPALLY GROUP; “VELLAPALLY BROTHERS”, Designers, Engineers and Contractors, Kottayam, which was established in 1947,  giving a face lift to the Local Construction Industry by partially mechanizing the mode of working. Several landmark buildings were done by him in different parts of Kerala and Karnataka; viz; Premier Tyres Factory Complex at Kalamassery, 14 storied HMT Administrative Building at Kalamassery, Executive quarters for Cochin Refiners Ltd at Ambalamugal, St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary at Kottayam, Old Seminary at Kottayam, St. Thomas College and Alphonsa College at Palai, Shenoy’s and Padma Theatres in Cochin, Premier Breweries Factory Complex at Palghat, Theresian College & Hostel and Lido Theatre at Mysore, Marthas Hospital, Westend Hotel and Kissan Factory Complex at Bangalore, Good Samaritan Hospital at Alwaye, M.K.M. Hospital at Piravithanam,  Vayalil Medical Centre at Moolamattom; to mention a few:

1976 to 1994.

1976 to 1994  – While continuing as the Managing Partner of Vellapally Brothers and as Chairman of the Vellapally Group, in 1976 he took the initiative to join hands with a few leading Civil Contractors of Kerala to form “ASIAN TECHS LIMITED”. In his tenure as Founder – Managing Director.  Asian Techs Limited,  has done  Hyde power projects, iron ore and steel plant projects, major factory complexes, rail and road bridges, major and minor tunnel systems, multistoried commercial and administrative building complexes, etc. in different parts of india and bhutan

While he was the Managing Director of Asian Techs Limited, carried out the Underground Cavern and Tunnel Systems Comprising of  horizontal and inclined drilling,  deploying Alimak raise climber and other conventional methods, blasting and mechanised disposal of debris, rock bolting, shotcrete and concrete works for the power house cavern, 82MW x 4 generator foundations, butterfly valve  chamber, horizontal penstocks, inclined pressure shafts, tail race tunnel and civil foundations for electrical distribution system in the switchyard for Chuka Hydel  Project at Bhuttan and Head Race Tunnel and Forebay for Rammam Hydro Electric Project (Stage II) for West Bengal State Electricity Board in record time; both in spite of the hazardous geological conditions prevailing in the Himalayan region. Execution of 6540 Mts of Bandra Tunnel System for Bombay Municipal Corporation; 08 Tunnels, major and minor bridges for Koraput – Rayagada Railway Line of S.E Railways; Tunnels and bridges for Konkan Railway;  the massive Administrative Building for Vizag Steel Plant; and seven storied Guest Room Block for Taj Malabar Hotel at Cochin;  are worth mentioning. The Delhi MCD Underground Car Parking Project (30,000 M2) at Asaf Ali Road,  Delhi and Ranganadi Main Tunnel (7000 Mts) for Ranganadi Hydel Project in Arunachal Pradesh, were both executed by Asian Techs – Progressive Constructions – Joint Venture, of which he was the Chairman.

1994 onwards .

1994 onwards – In 1994, the year in which he retired from M/s. Vellaplly Brothers and M/s. Asian Techs Limited, late Sri. Alexander Vellapally formed M/s VELLAPALLY & ASSOCIATES based in his own village “Peroor,” entrusting Abraham Alex Vellapally to look after and carry on Civil Construction, Real Estate business,  with the active support of the Flag ship firm of the Group M/s VELLAPALLY BROTHERS.A Tradition of trust, quality and commitment gracefully passed on to the third generation.

1986 to 1994 . Abraham Alex Vellapally (Chief Executive)

1986 to 1994 – By virtue of being the partner of Vellapally Brothers,  Kottayam, he has handled a few major and minor Building Projects in Kerala. To mention a few; Assisi Hospital Complex at Mukkoottuthara;  Semi – Permanent Building for Gandhiji University at Kottayam;  Calicut Airport Terminal Building at Karipur etc;  stands in his credit.

1987 to 1988 .

1987 to 1988 – He was working with M/s. Jaiprakash Associates, New Delhi, one of the pioneers in Civil Engineering Construction Industry in India,  at their Vizag Steel Plant Project,  as Engineer- Trainee.  From 1988 – 1994 he was doing Civil Construction and Real Estate Business in New Delhi, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and was also monitoring the North and North-East Projects of “Asian Techs Limited” and “Asian Techs – Progressive Constructions – Joint Venture”; mainly Head Race Tunnel for Ranganadi Hydel Project at Arunachal Pradesh and Underground Car Parking Project at Asaf Ali Road, Delhi.

Apart from a few building projects in New Delhi and Haryana, he has successfully completed the Access Tunnel to the Underground Power House at Jhakri, Himachal Pradesh of Nathpa Jhakri Hydel Project for M/s. R.J Shah & Co., Bombay; Adit Tunnels to Head Race Tunnel at Nughalsari and Wadhal for Nathpa Jhakri Hydel Project in Himachal Pradeh for M/s. Asian Techs Limited; Baba Augmentation Project of Sanjay Vidyut Paryojana Hydel Project at Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh for M/s. Asian Techs Limited and Adit Tunnel to HRT at Nathpa in Himachal Pradesh for Nathpa Jhakri Power Corporation directly.

1994 onwards .

1994 onwards – Under the guidance of his father Late. Sri. Alexander Vellapally formed “VELLAPALLY & ASSOCIATES” based in Kottayam doing Civil Construction and Real Estate Business. He is also the Partner of M/s. Vellapally Rent & Lease Company,  Kottayam.
